flying cow: No, these are not water colors. Below is the description of how she did it. I got this description from 'artsonia' website where her work is displayed by her art teacher.
"Pictures were taken of the students using a digital camera and the solarize setting. The images were changed to black and white and then the students put the pictures into a Word document and duplicated them until they had six. In the art room, they used Prismacolors to fill in the different solarized areas until they were completely covered and no gray was showing. The pictures were then cut out and glued to a piece of black construction paper."
